About the artist...

Allen Martin took an interest in photography in the late 90's, capturing images for websites. A few years later he began studying photography in earnest, taking online classes, learning from some of the biggest names in the business across a few different styles of photography, via online training course such as Kelbyone, among others. Areas of study varied from portraiture to landscapes and wildlife. He began making side money doing sittings, events, and selling his art photography locally and online, and to date has been published in 3 fine art magazines for his conceptual fine art photography, and his work has been used across numerous websites over the years, including some of his award winning lightning photography.

In 2022, after having taken a few years off to take care of his elderly father (who passed in 2021), Allen sold his house in Missouri, and the vast majority of his belongings, bought a van, built it out for full time travel, and hit the road, rebranding as "The Nikon Nomad" on social media such as Tiktok and Youtube, to promote Lightsidephotos.com. He now spends his summers in the northern states, such as Wyoming, where he photographs amazing locations such as the Grand Tetons, and awesome wildlife such as brown bears and moose. He travels to southern states in the colder months to shoot landscapes and seascapes, like the Grand Canyon, the deserts of Arizona, and the beaches of South Texas along the Gulf Coast, among other locations. Wherever he goes, he finds some of the most beautiful birds and animals, landscapes and seascapes, to point his lenses at, for your enjoyment.

Here, you will find some of his best work for sale as fine art prints, suitable for any home or office, as well as merchandise with his work printed on it such as coffee mugs and tote bags to enjoy his imagery on the go.

Although his first love with a camera is nature and wildlife, other subjects grab his attention from time to time, such as air shows, motorcycles, interesting structures such as old bridges and buildings, and of course the occasional creative conceptual shoot with a model here and there along the way. Please take some time to look through the galleries and feel free to contact Allen directly if you have a special request or want to set up a personal photo shoot.

Services Offered:

In addition to selling my fine art photography, I also provide photography services for sittings involving up to 5 individuals, specific types of event photography, and marketing photography, within 20 miles of my current location as a standard service, however, I travel full-time and never really know exactly where I will be in the coming weeks and months. Regarding events, I do not do weddings or large group sittings, or other types of social events and parties due to the nature of such shoots all too often resulting in unclear instructions of what the client wants photos of. I will shoot events such as races, rodeos, etc if a specific individual is participating that you want action shots of throughout the event. If you have other types of photography service needs, please feel free to contact me and we can discuss the details to see if I am the right fit for the job.

As such, if you need me in person at another location, more than 20 miles away, I charge a travel fee of $2 per mile after 20 miles and will drive up to 100 miles from my current location. Beyond that range, I am willing to fly anywhere in the lower 48 states and will require a plane ticket at least 2 weeks in advance of the photo shoot, plus $200/day upfront to cover expenses such as a hotel room, Uber/taxi, food, drinks, and other daily necessities for the anticipated amount of time I will need to be at the shoot location. I am only willing to fly if the job pays over $1000 to begin with.

My base sitting fees start at $125 for a one hour sitting with an individual or couple. You will receive the 3 best edited images. For 3-5 individuals I charge $175 for a one hour sitting, and you will receive the best 5 edited images from the shoot. Other types of photo shoots such as special events, product photography, etc, will require a consultation and information about what exactly you're looking for before a price will be set.

When considering my prices, please bear in mind that I have around 20 years experience as a trained photographer, with multiple magazine and other publications under my belt. I shoot with Nikon camera bodies and select my lenses based on the subject and conditions of the shoot to give you an artists touch that cannot be matched by your average untrained "photographer" who generally does not even use off camera lighting techniques.  Don't be mislead into hiring a GWC ("Guy With Camera", a term often used in the industry by schooled photographers to describe someone with no training and substandard equipment, who commonly charges far less because they lack the skills to provide you with truly professional looking images.)  And please, if the images are important to you, avoid trying to get what you really need via a cell phone camera. The better the images you use to sell something, the better the odds of getting it sold, and for the prices you want! Hire a pro!
